How to upgrade LTE Cellular Antenna's performance?
With development of Internet of Things (IoT), the higher network certification to devices is required. On the other hand, the trend for consumer electronics becomes smaller devices. It is common to see LTE cellular antenna on many devices but difficult to identify their efficiency, connectivity, and stability on appearance. That is why we need network certification to ensure the wireless device performance as well as optimize manufacturing techniques.
PTCRB certification determine the test specifications and methods necessary to support the certification process for 5G NR and 4G LTE wireless devices, including Smartphones, feature phones, tablets, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, notebook computers, modules. To ensure the device’s performance and quality, US requires all LTE devices must pass PTCRB certification.
There are three main parameters for LTE device in PTCRB certification: Total Radiated Power (TRP), Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS), and Radiated spurious emissions (RSE). Above all is to measure device’s power radiation, the ability of cellular network receiving, and emissions at frequencies outside the required bandwidth. Once an antenna is integrated into the device, the following parameters are measured:
- Impedance
- Voltage Standing Wave Radio (VSWR)
- Return loss
- Efficiency
- Peak and average gain
- 2D/3D radiation patterns
